Coating Quantity Calculator

Estimate coating quantities using coverage rates or film thickness and product data to support purchasing and quote requests.

Estimate Coating Quantities

Estimate quantities using coverage rates, or use dry film thickness, volume solids, and density for a technical estimate.

Use the measured coating surface, not only floor plan area.
Count primer, build coat, and topcoat only if they use the same product.
Use the theoretical or recommended rate from the product document.
Include surface absorption, edge work, equipment loss, and package rounding.
Use the package volume you plan to purchase.

This calculator is an estimate only and not a final quotation. Final usage depends on the selected product, substrate, application method, surface absorption, film thickness, site loss, and package size.

Coating surface and jobsite condition

How the Calculator Works

Estimates account for your inputs, waste allowance, and pack size. Results are for purchasing planning only.

Basic estimate

Area x coats / coverage rate = net liters. Add site loss, then round up by package size.

Technical estimate

Area x coats x dry film thickness / volume solids = wet volume. Multiply by density, add site loss, then round up by package size.

Factors Affecting Actual Consumption

Actual consumption varies with substrate absorbency, surface roughness, target film thickness, application method, and on-site losses.

Surface absorption

Porous concrete, old coating layers, rough plaster, or repaired areas can increase real consumption compared with a smooth test surface.

Film thickness target

Higher dry film thickness, extra build coats, or texture requirements increase material demand and should be checked against the product route.

Application method

Brush, roller, spray, trowel, squeegee, and line-marking equipment can produce different transfer efficiency and site loss.

Site loss and packaging

Mixing residue, overspray, edge work, equipment cleaning, uneven surface profile, and package rounding all affect the purchase quantity.

Prepare Your Quote Request

Share your estimated quantity, substrate conditions, application requirements, and pack size so VERDA can review suitable products and prepare a quotation.
